The Quarterdeck Restaurant in Cape Town

".....This use to be Thee Restaurant at the Grand West Casino! Restaurant is very Up Market and you really feel that you are in a Top Notch Place and it has an Air of Its Own! Food is always good. Most of there deals consist of a Buffet, there is plenty to go around and if you can there is no limit to what you can eat and how many times you go around. Staff is efficient, helpful and friendly! Always worth your money spent here! Good place for the whole family!......Today: - 24th Feb 2018......……As always it remains a snazz-ii elegant experience when dinning at this restaurant! Although the only change they have made to this place in the last 21 years is to have removed all the smart furniture and replaced it with standard tables and chairs and the table settings are as if you are at Rocomammas or even a local eater-ii. No snazz-ii white table-cloths and nice cutlery only a box with a number and the tools that are needed for the patrons to eat their meals with! The buffet style food serving is one of the best in and around Cape Town by far! They have various cold drinks on offer, lots of fresh salads, good selection of starters made up of fried fish & calamari and the soup of the day, various main courses to choose from ranging from roasted meats to fried fish and also cooked foods like mutton-curry and stews! The desserts are just as well prepared and good for the eyes as for the stomach also they offer a great selection of cheeses and cracker-breads as a starter or after meal end off even love-lii cakes of various flavours! CAUTION: -It’s never an easy task to make a reservation here as the phone lines are always busy, to make a reservation by phone it becomes a 15 to 20 minutes escapade every-time and if you look at the photo posted by myself the restaurant offers the patrons an email option BUT! Don’t waste your time with this option as they don’t seem to have personal manning this option! I sent an email on the 13th February 2018 to make a reservation for the 24th February and by the 21st February had No reply! So I called and after a 15 minute wait I spoke to a lady named Roc-Shawn who was very helpful and also she was unable to tell me why the email side was dysfunctional. And it turned out to be a futile exercise to inform them in the booking office and also via the manager at Quarter Deck whose name was “Shane” who told me categorically that Its No concern of his as Bookings are done in another section of the establishment! My! My! My! Do these people not all work for Sun International?????? Never-the-less what was nice was that after I managed to make the reservation they inform you via sms that your booking was successful and on the day of your reservation they again send you a sms to confirm that you will be coming! Not bad at all!!....Otherwise always an enjoyable time here with the good spread that’s on offer!!!........Today 16th March 2018:- and we are back to indulge in the good stuff we could not have the last time we we're here!"

"I pre-booked a 50th dinner with Roxy - who was very helpful and tried to accommodate all my requests. We were a small-ish group and we managed to secure the back area all to ourselves. What a lovely surprise that was. The food was excellent and the variety was impressive. Everything had a unique taste. And the soda's and waters on tap (included in price) was very welcome. The entire party said they had an excellent time. I really hope this place appreciates their chef/s as they sure know how to cook! Bongy & Khanyi were our assigned waitresses (another surprise) and they looked after us well - and stayed with us until the end. I would highly recommend this place. And will definitely be going back! Thank you to the Management and staff at Quarterdeck."

"Service was really poor, we had to ask twice for glasses to pour the tropical punch, and we had to ask for napkins/serviettes, but maybe the staff was under stress and pressure as it was 30 minutes until the buffet food was removed. The food selection was spectacular, the food was really good, there was a lot of wonderful meats and really delicious fried fish. I am willing to give the staff and restaurant another chance, as my girlfriend really craves buffet."

"I read a few reviews saying no ambience. BS. DJ was hitting the deck hard. Music was flowing, food was more than acceptable for the price and overall it was a wonderful evening."

"Was there for a staff party with a full house booking.. The food was mostly good with a couple of dishes not quiet to our tasting from different members. With the evening being fully booked a few of us got to the main buffet with serving dishes being emptied out & not restocked efficiently.. We discovered certain items on plates that we ourselves did not see on the service table. Also the deserts was very average I'm sorry to say. They served baked deserts that we can make at home.... & most of the cold deserts were really tasteless not tasting how they looked? There where no finishing touches on the deserts as I see in previous photo posts. We just got little squares of colorful gelatine like blocks? Although I must say the ice cream was superb. So creamy & full of flavors. At almost R300 a plate, when I as a female & not huge eater expected a little better when it came to the finishing touches & overall service of the kitchen staff? Our waitress Beauhla was a delight & made for pleasureable service at the Table!"

"Hi We had our sons 21st birthday at quarter deck on Friday 17 October. And I just want to say that you guys did not disappoint. The food was excellent. Desserts just as good and a great variety of foods and desserts. The 2 ladies that served us, thank you for excellent service. And all other staff thank you. The atmosphere with the DJ on a Friday was awesome. Thank you for letting us put up a few decorations before the time. Overall thank you Quarterdeck. We'll done."

"The place to be was here on a Christmas once with my mother couldn't stop talking about the place food was the best and service also celebrate my friends birthday there now I go alot for breakfast once a week seeing most of seniors enjoying not only food but outing is special dress up awesome grateful thanks next time I'll take pictures"
